Gbolahan Oyedemi, a deputy commissioner of police employed by the Force Criminal and Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State, is reported to have killed himself on Monday in his home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

In his 11 months as de facto governor in 2006, Oyedemi served as the late former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala’s Aide de Camp.

On Tuesday in the state capital of Ibadan, a family-affiliated source informed the Punch over the phone that Oyedemi, who typically traveled to his hometown to celebrate Easter, instructed his assistants to head to their respective towns over the weekend to join their relatives in celebrating.

The source said, “Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations.

“This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their family members in their various homes. Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide.”

Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, was not reachable at his mobile number, so all attempts to get a response from him were unsuccessful.
