The election of Francis Nwifuru as the legitimately elected governor of Ebonyi State in the March 18 governorship election was upheld by the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, on Friday.

Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party sought an appeal, but it was unanimously denied by the three-member panel led by Justice Jummai Sankey.

Additionally, the panel addressed each of the five points brought forward against the appellant and rejected the appeal due to its lack of validity.

In her lead ruling, Justice Sankey declared that the PDP and its candidate did not have the legal authority to interfere with the All Progressives Congress’s internal matters over candidate nominations.
