Bashiru Saidu Elected President of Nigerian Youth in Diaspora

NEWS DIGEST – Bashiru Saidu Muhammad, hailing from Sokoto State in the northern region, has emerged as the President of the Nigerian Youth in Diaspora (NYD).

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at London Coventry University, Muhammad secured a notable 229 votes out of 1,230 in a tightly contested election held in Zurich, Switzerland.

Chairing the electoral committee, Ewegbuna Ehenacho announced Muhammad’s victory over five other candidates.

This landmark win signifies a notable achievement for the union, being the first time a northerner has been elected to lead the Nigerian Youth in Diaspora (NYD).

The runner-up contenders for this prestigious position included Ayomide Adedayo, who garnered 198 votes (16.10%), Adetola Ayotunde with 198 votes (16.10%), Adesola Adisa securing 182 votes (14.76%), Chibuike Kelechi receiving 217 votes (17.56%), and Chinonso Chidiebere obtaining 206 votes (16.74%).

Expressing his gratitude after the victory, Mr. Muhammad affirmed that his leadership would focus on reshaping the future of NYD and reinforcing its dedication to empowering Nigerian youth in the diaspora.
