Friday prayers at Anguwar Makera, under Kwasakwasa Community, in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, resulted in the deaths of at least two worshippers.

The incident occurred on Friday at around 2:00 pm, according to the locals.

Hudu Kwasakwasa, a community leader who attested to the event, stated that the bandits shot the worshippers.

“The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday). The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery,” he said.

He claimed that an attack occurred when the people were in the second raka’at of the salat, forcing the surviving individuals to flee for their lives.

He continued by saying that roughly nine people had been kidnapped by the same bandits a few days prior in the Kwasakwasa area’s Angwar Kanawa community.

He begged the relevant authorities for assistance, claiming that the bandits were robbing the towns without anyone to stop them.

Less than a day had passed since bandits kidnapped over 287 students in the state’s neighboring Chikun Local Government Area when the latest attack on the worshippers occurred.

Since ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached by phone and has not responded to a text message requesting clarification, the State Government and the Police Command have not yet responded to the mosque incident.
