Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians to cultivate unity and pray for a prosperous country in a Christmas greeting on social media platform X.

Atiku, who finished second in the 2023 presidential election, emphasized the significance of love and unity, especially during the Yuletide season.

He urged Nigerians to “inject the healing and unifying serum of love for our neighbours into the nation’s consciousness.”

Abubakar extended his felicitations to all Nigerians, with a special mention of the Christian faithful, on Christmas. “Christmas is a time of love. Therefore, I call on all Nigerians to emulate the essence of this season and unite for the greater good of our dear country.”

He elaborated on Christmas’s essence, describing it as a season of love, joy, generosity and forgiveness. He encouraged Nigerians to celebrate with family and friends and take time to pray for a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

As part of the celebrations, Mr Atiku urged Nigerians to extend hands of love and fellowship to their neighbours.

Reiterating the importance of unity, he concluded by saying it was important to live as one big family, “irrespective of our social, political and religious leanings and continue to trust God for a better tomorrow and a greater country.”
