Arsenal’s shot-stopper and former England U-18 player, Arthur Okonkwo, has reportedly decided to switch allegiance to Nigeria, as revealed by dailycannon.com.

Currently on loan with Wrexham, Okonkwo’s standout performances in English League Two and previous stints with Crewe Alexandra and Sturm Graz have garnered attention.

Despite his club success, the 22-year-old’s international opportunities with England have been scarce for over four years.

Recent reports suggest that Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro, has initiated contact with Okonkwo, who has signaled a willingness to make the nationality switch. Peseiro, along with former Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick, is optimistic about Okonkwo’s eligibility for the upcoming AFCON, although the timeline may pose challenges.

With 61 senior football appearances and 24 clean sheets, Okonkwo’s promising career has caught the eye of the Nigerian national team.
