Major General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army’s 3rd Division, has promised to guarantee the protection and well-being of National Youth Service Corps participants stationed in Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Saturday through the Nigerian Army’s X account, Abubakar detailed efforts made by his command and the military’s Operation Safe Haven to preserve peace in Plateau while speaking during a visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Jos this week.

“The wellbeing of NYSC members is paramount. We have employed intelligence and proactive actions to tackle criminalities and reassure citizens of their safety,” he stated.

Abubakar urged the corps members to remain vigilant and provide security agencies useful information to apprehend suspicious persons. He advised them to shun social vices and be law-abiding.

The senior commander issued a warning, saying that Operation Safe Haven forces are determined to find criminals and there will be no place for them to hide.

He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting Plateau State and urged interested parties to back peace initiatives.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Esther Ikupolati, responded by thanking the GOC for placing corps members’security first.

The visit included young demonstrations of unarmed combat and cultural exhibits.
