Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has become the Super Eagles player with the third-highest number of appearances in the English Premier League.

According to Soccernet.ng, the 27-year-old midfielder recorded this milestone after he played in Fulham’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage.

Iwobi has been a prominent figure in the Premier League for nine years since his debut with Arsenal. After four seasons with Arsenal, he joined Everton in 2019 before moving to Fulham last summer.

In his latest game against Crystal Palace, Iwobi made his 250th Premier League appearance, surpassing Mikel, with whom he was tied at 249 appearances.

Iwobi started the game and played the full match with 42 touches, a 75% pass accuracy, and two tackles.

He is now just two games away from surpassing Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s record of 252 appearances. However, his left with 49 games behind Shola Ameobi, who holds the highest number of appearances.

It’s noteworthy that all of Mikel’s 249 appearances were made for Chelsea.
