Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu requested funds to purchase a presidential jet.

Akpabio addressed the rumors after a closed-door meeting with senators that lasted over an hour.

Several reports had suggested that Tinubu sought the National Assembly’s approval for the acquisition of a new presidential jet.

Debunking the rumor, Akpabio said, “I have never had that correspondence to approve the purchase of a plane. We care about the President, we care about Nigerians.

“We will approve things that will benefit the people.
“There is nothing before us. But the purveyors of the story know that there is a problem with the Presidential Fleet.” He added.
