Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Month for September has been named as Nigerian defender Ola Aina, the club announced on Tuesday.

40% of all votes made by supporters, according to the club, went to Aina.

He replaces his countryman Taiwo Awoniyi, who received the honor in August.

Aina had three appearances for the Tricky Trees during the reviewed month as they defeated Manchester City 2-0, drew Burnley 1-1 at the City Ground, and defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

After leaving Torino, the 26-year-old joined Forest on a free transfer and has since made an impression. He has played five times in the current Premier League season.

The adaptable full-back, who can play on either flank, has played on both the left and right side of defense thus far this season, putting on a streak of strong performances.

“It’s been fun. I’ve enjoyed every bit of it so far. The staff, the players, the city itself, it’s been really good to me so far and long may it continue.

“I was the first to arrive this summer and it was fun, I had Taiwo and Emmanuel Dennis here, who I know from Nigeria, I knew Morgan and Harry Toffolo too, so it was smooth sailing.”

Aina was left out of their last game against Brentford on Sunday but will hope to return for their trip to Crystal Palace Saturday.

With eight points after seven games, Nottingham Forest is in 12th place in the English Premier League with seven points.
