President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to exercise more patience during the current economic hardship, assuring that it is a temporary sacrifice that will soon come to an end.

Speaking on Saturday in Kaduna at the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) 60th anniversary celebration parade, aerial display, and flying out parade for 30 Air Vice Marshals and 9 Air Commodores, who are members of the NAF’s 37 and 38 regular courses, the President promised to keep supporting the NAF’s modernization efforts for the improvement of national security.

The theme of the celebration, “NAF at 60: leveraging strategic partnership in aerospace innovations for regional security,” according to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s representative, was appropriate given that the federal government had made significant investments in acquiring cutting-edge multi-role combat air attack helicopters and other platforms to strengthen NAF’s capabilities.

Praiseing the personnel’s combat readiness and aerial display, he said it demonstrated their commitment to their jobs and reiterated his administration’s top priority of security, pointing out that progress could not be ensured in an unsafe environment.

He said, “We have made substantial investment in procuring state-of-the-art multi-role combat air attack helicopters and other platforms that will enhance the NAF’s capabilities. Some of the platforms include surveillance aircrafts, T129 attack helicopters, Augusta 109 multi-role helicopters, Diamond 62 surveillance aircraft, M46 attack aircraft, among others.

“I want to also use this opportunity to call on Nigerians to be more patient with the economic hardship being faced. It is a temporary sacrifice that will come to an end soon.”

He insisted that taking a sociological approach to understanding today’s security issues was the best way to do so, and he pledged to keep helping the NAF and the armed forces in general to realize the country’s goal of peace and security.

Then, as he prayed for the souls of those who gave their lives in defense of the country, he congratulated the NAF on its 60th anniversary.
