AFCON: Mali defeat Burkina Faso 2-1, proceed to quarter finals

In an exciting AFCON 2023 match on Tuesday night, Mali’s Eagles secured a 2-1 victory against Burkina Faso’s Stallions.

Mali took the lead with an early own goal from Edmond Tapsoba in the 3rd minute. Lassine Sinayoko then scored in the 47th minute, extending Mali’s lead to 2-0.

Bertrand Traore’s spot-kick in the 57th minute brought Burkina Faso back with a goal, making it 2-1 after a handball review.

Despite Burkina Faso’s efforts, Mali’s strong defense held firm, ensuring a spot in the quarter-finals.

Next up, the Eagles will face Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday, 3 February, in Bouake.
