NEWS DIGEST– The Distance Learning Centre of Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, has teamed up with Dorayi Film and Distributing Company to promote its academic programs through film production and television series. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was jointly signed by the Distance Learning Centre and Dorayi Film and Distributing Company at a ceremony in Kaduna.

According to the MoU, the goal of the partnership is to strengthen media collaboration in the areas of film production, casting, and sponsorship. As part of the agreement, the Distance Learning Centre, known for its expertise in open distance and e-learning, will sponsor the production of a movie titled ‘MISALI’ and retain the television rights and intellectual property.

Dorayi Film and Distributing Company, a renowned television production firm based in Kano, will be responsible for script writing, casting, production, editing, marketing, and other tasks related to the production of the television series.

The production of the TV series is set to begin on 13th November 2023 and will last for four months. 

During the ceremony, Professor Mohammad I. Sule, the Director of the Distance Learning Centre, emphasized that the agreement would ensure the center is well protected and promoted. Dr. Salim Magashi, the Deputy Director of Administration at ABU Distance Learning Centre, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the project and expressed enthusiasm for its commencement.

The MoU was signed by Malam Nazir Salihi on behalf of Dorayi Film and Distributing Company, with the presence of Malam Aminu Shehu, a staff member of the film production firm.
