“Across generations, within Nigeriaand beyond, tributes and condolence messages have been pouring in celebrating this great Man whose light still shines after him. Death has indeed dealt us a big blow.

“All the reasoning about life’s meaning and death’s inevitability has not cushioned this deep sadness as we gather the courage to bid farewell to Mr innocent Chukwuma.

“Words still fail us in expressing the magnitude of the loss of a great man who lived a life of impact: fifty-five years of intentional action, impact and pure love in everything he did”.

YIAGA acknowledged his unquestionable service to the country describing him as a man who advocated for social justice and democracy.

He was also attributed for his efforts in the fight for the NotTooYoungToRun movement.

“Social justice was at the core of the work he did. He understood the power in intentional action and consciously ensured he worked for the Nigeria and Africa of today and tomorrow.

“Mr Innocent believed in the future and passionately invested his time,
resources and intellect to support young initiatives and movements. Yiaga Africa and the Not Too Young to Run Movement remains eternally grateful for his support and mentorship.

“In his interaction and dealings, he valued integrity, humility, equity and compassion. His exit is indeed a monumental loss to the Nigerian Civil Society community and the entire nation”. The statement reads.
