UNILAG to shift examinations over NUGA competition

NEWS DIGEST – The management of the University of Lagos has decided that students across all levels in the university will be writing their first semester examinations for the 2021/2022 academic session after the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) competition.

The vice chancellor of the University, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe disclosed this during an interview with the journalists on the school’s plans on accommodation for the upcoming NUGA competition.

The previous calendar of the University stated that third to final year students are to sit for their examinations before the competition while Freshmen and second year students would write theirs after the competition.

However, the vice chancellor explained that following carefully consideration of different factors, the University has agreed to shift all examinations across all levels till April.

“The students will vacate by the first week of March. Initially, we said year 3 and 4 will have their exams before the NUGA GAMES, but we’ve reconsidered. Everyone will be writing after,” he said.

The 26th Edition of the NUGA GAMES which is being hosted by the University of Lagos kicked off with online registration of various universities on December 16, 2021 and ended on January 15, 2022. The athletes verification is expected to run from January 17 to January 23, 2022.

The NUGA preliminary starts January 23 and ends February 16, 2022. The main competition which is the ‘NUGA GAMES 2022’ will commence on March 16 till March 27, 2022.
