A Tribute to a Hidden Treasure: The Legacy of Dan Iyan Ringim, Sagir Saiyadi

NEWS DIGEST – From the lineage of the Emir of Kano Usman II of the Ibrahim Dabo dynasty, a complete gentleman, untouched by the trappings of royalty, walked the earth with humility and dignity. The late Sagir Saiyadi Dan Iyan Ringim, son of His Highness the Emir of Ringim Alhaji Saiyadi Abubakar Mahmud, was an enigmatic figure and a distinguished public officer in the FCDA.

Throughout his life, he exuded calmness and lived a quiet, decent life, free from the temperament often associated with royalty. His kindness knew no bounds, and he shared his blessings generously with everyone. He was a charitable and highly respected gentleman.

As a district head, he led Juma’at prayers in his domain, often centering his sermons on the fear of Allah and adherence to the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He consistently urged his people to fear Allah, respect and obey their parents, honor the elderly, and show kindness and mercy to the younger ones. To further spread these virtuous messages, he thoughtfully printed his sermons into booklets for free distribution, reminding people of their obligations to their Creator and fellow human beings.

In an online program on the Zuri’ar Wamban Kano platform, Mahmud Ciroman Ringim, Alhaji Usman Saiyadi, Senior Councillor of Ringim Emirate Council, provided an insightful testimony of the life of the late Dan Iyan Ringim Sagir Saiyadi, highlighting his exemplary character. Similarly, Wamban Ringim and the District Head of Garki Alhaji Kabir Saiyadi paid glowing tributes to the late Dan Iya, describing him as a selfless individual and a dependable brother. Mustapha Shuaibu Rabo, General Manager of UYK Construction Company, and cousin and close friend of the late Dan Iya, described him as a lost gem, trustworthy, and a reliable friend. The late Dan Iya earned the admiration and respect of all who knew him or crossed paths with him during his life.

Another amazing aspect of his life was his ability to strengthen strong family ties with his siblings. He was always available to offer guidance and support anytime the need arose, giving succor and a helping hand in times of need. Furthermore, he ensured no harm came to them by personally aiding them when necessary. He was a loving and caring brother in every shape and form, in all content and character.

He lived a life of generosity, epitomizing the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) teaching of giving with the right hand without the left hand knowing. He fulfilled the dreams and aspirations of many by sponsoring them to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia. The last group he sponsored included his father, His Highness the Emir of Ringim, and some family members. At the Prophet’s Mosque, the Emir publicly praised and prayed for the late Dan Iya, a moment captured and shared globally.

Indeed, he lived a life well spent in righteousness and the fear of Allah, always mindful of the Day of Judgment. He was a prince with a big heart and a simple lifestyle, highly educated in both Islamic and Western traditions. He quietly ascended the ladder of success, unperturbed by the glamour of his positions.

Dan Iya Sagir Saiyadi was a hidden treasure in the depths of the sea where corals and gemstones are found.

May Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala forgive him and grant him smooth and uninterrupted access to Jannatul Firdaus. Amin thumma amin.
