Reactions trail News Digest investigation on OAU accommodation crisis
NEWS DIGEST – Reactions have continued to trail The News Digest investigation on the accommodation crisis rocking Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) including how the institution failed to build hostels despite a Needs Assessment fund for such.
In the report The News Digest had exposed that over 3billion naira backed by document evidence was released in the first tranche of funds with 2billion naira for building hostels in Obafemi Awolowo University.
Reacting a Student activist, Gbenga Olaniran Von said the revelations are very timely “This revelations are very timely and a good one to go”.
A student simply identified as Afoo said: “This is something that everyone concerned about the Nigerian Educational system should read as it exposes the huge rot in the educational system”.
Another student who spoke under anonymity said: “It is wrong for issues huge as this to go on in our system unchecked, it calls for huge deliberation and requires more limelight in the system”.
The News Digest had reported the continued crisis that has rocked the University and the plan to lease out a newly built hostel to private companies despite the accomodation crisis that has left many students grappling on where to stay.
