2023: ‘I am here to stand for Nigerians’, says Khadijat Okunnu-Lamidi

NEWS DIGEST – The first female presidential aspirant in the 2023 general election in Nigeria, Khadijat Okunnu-Lamidi has said her aim of vying for the apex executive seat in the country is to stand up for Nigerians.

“I am here to stand for Nigerian. I am standing for Nigeria,” she said.

The presidential aspirant said this during a live programme on Nigeria Info FM, Lagos, at the early hours of today.

Khadijat, who is the daughter of the Federal Commissioner of Works and Housing during General Gowon’s regime, Femi Okunnu believed she has what it takes to steer the administration of the nation.

Responding to questions asked as part of her plans for the country, she expressed her mind on the current regional system practiced saying, “I believe we do need to empower the region.”

Khadijat Okunnu, during the interview also expressed her displeasure in the current administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the incumbent governor of Lagos.

When asked if she will be ready and available to work with other youths aspirants, she declared she is ready to team up any youth who is ready to bring the core goal of development targeted.

Though, Khadijat is yet to announce the political party she will contest from, said she aspires to make Nigeria function for the citizens.

Khadijat Okunnu who declared her intention for the presidency seat yesterday is a multi-award winning businesswoman, philanthropist, social advocate, a brand consultant, a head of a leading advertising agency in Lagos state.
