Super Eagles, England in high profile rendezvous at Wembley Stadium

NEWS DIGEST – The Super Eagles of Nigeria has put their nerves to test against Gareth Southgate’s England in an eagerly anticipated encounter at the Wembley Stadium. The high profile tie which is in preparation for the upcoming tournament in Russia, kicks off by 5:15 pm.

Having produced an uninspiring performance against the Leopards of Congo as they crawled to a 1-1 draw, the Super Eagles come into this clash with the hunger to prove a point. Added motivation for the players also comes from the fact that 3 of the 26 that travelled to England will be dropped from the squad after the game so there is pressure on Rohr’s men to perform.
The German coach also promised a better performance than wednesday’s dour encounter against Congo, giving the terrible pitch as the reason for the uninspiring game.

Rohr said:

“The game against England will be a totally different game from the one against Congo DR.

“First, we will be playing at the Wembley Stadium which has one of the best pitches for football. Secondly, we expect to have our captain Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo and, hopefully, Wilfred Ndidi, back for the game. So we can really play as offensively as we always want to play. It will be a good match, I’m sure.”

Nigerian team travels to Austria after the England game for their final preparations where they will play Czech Republic on June 6 before departing for the event in Russia.
