Obtain your voter cards, no polling unit on social media, YPP tells youths’
NEWS DIGEST – The Kwara State Chapter of Young Progressives Party (YPP) has called on youths across the country to obtain their voter cards in order to effect the desired leadership in the country.
The party said this after a rally held in Ilorin, the state capital, on Thursday.
Addressing pressmen after the programme, the chairman of the party in the state, Charles Folayan, admonished the youth to continue to work for the peace and unity of the country.
“Remember, there is no polling unit on the social media. If there is any justice in the world, our votes will be counted. And guess what? We are in the majority!
“Let us remain peaceful and continue to work for the peace and unity of Nigeria,” he said.
The party chairman said although the Youths are the generation that will inherit this country, they have to serve Nigeria first.
He further noted that it is clear that the challenges facing Nigeria and Nigerians at the moment cannot be solved by lamentations on social media or by street protests.
“We must, therefore, move from the street to the ballot to achieve the YPP ballot revolution,” he said.
He noted that the only way to bring about change in a democratic setting is to participate in the political process and governance structure.
He said, “That was the reason the YPP was formed as a genuine platform for new generation leaders who are in politics to serve the people, not themselves.
“Let us stop recycling leaders who are leading us nowhere. They are either too old, too sick or too weak (morally).
“Let us work together in YPP to usher in credible leaders with new ideas, innovation, energy, and intellectual capacity. Leaders that would galvanize the productive skills of the youth to generate solutions.”
