Why I chose not to contest for House of Reps for second term – Shina Peller

NEWS DIGEST – The lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has disclosed the reason why he chose not to contest for the seat for second term.

The lawmaker gave this hint via a post on his social media page, acknowledging that people have wondered why he did not.

Pellar said the reason behind him not contesting is for the good, integrity of his people, and consideration of other local governments within his constituency.

The lawmaker made it clear that the other local governments under his constituency have not had a representative for almost 16 years.

Hence, he sees himself contesting for second term as a means of denying them the chance to produce a representative.

My decision is based on my consideration of other local governments within my constituency – Kajola and Iwajowa who haven’t presented a representative for almost 16 years now.

“Returning to the House for the second term will mean denying them the opportunity to present a representative for twenty years”

“By 2023 when I will be completing my first term as a member of the House of Representatives, it will make it sixteen (16) uninterrupted years that Iseyin/Itesiwaju have been producing representatives for the constituency leaving out the people from Kajola/Iwajowa,” he said.

He noted he feels the pain of Iseyin and with that, gave his support to a qualified person from Kajola/Iwajowa to represent the constituency at the federal level in 2023.

Meanwhile, Shina Peller also used the medium to further butress his interest to go for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat.

“While I am yielding the call of my people from Oke Ogun to opt for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat. I cannot be seen leading the liberation of Okeogun people and not fair to the local govts within my Constituency,” he said.
