UPDATED: Roma Wins Maiden Edition of Europa Conference League Final

NEWS DIGEST – Italian Serie A club, Roma has defeated Feyenoord to win the maiden edition of UEFA European Conference League final on Wednesday.

José Mourinho’s Roma defeated Dutch side Feyenoord in the final thanks to Nicolò Zaniolo’s nudged 32-minute goal to hand the Italian side the trophy at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana, Albania.

Feyenoord controlled almost the rest of the encounter but were unable to restore the disparity due to Roma’s solid defending in their backline.

The victory handed Mourinho his fifth European trophy in his coaching career, as he won two with Porto which were the UEFA CUP in 2002-2003 season and the UEFA Champions in the 2003-2004 campaign and another UEFA Champions League trophy in the 2009-2010 season with Inter Milan and the UEFA Europa League with Manchester United during the 016-2017 campaign and now the UEFA Conference League.

It is Roma’s first trophy since the 2008 Coppa Italia triumph, while this was also the first European trophy lifted by an Italian side since the Champions League won by Mourinho’s Inter in 2010.

Jose Mourinho is the only manager to win all European trophies – Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. Mourinho has also won all the five European finals he has competed in.
