PDP wins 4 council seats in Kaduna LG Polls
NEWS DIGEST – The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission 9KADSIECOM) has released the official results of Saturday’s local government election in the state which indicated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 14 LGs while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clinched 4 out of the 18 LGs whose elections have been concluded.
Chairman of KADSICOM, Dr. Saratu Dikko-Audu, who announced the result at a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters in Kaduna on Thursday evening, said the PDP candidates won in Zangon Kataf, Kachia, Jema’a and Kauru local governments while the APC candidates won in Birnin Gwari, Soba, Makarfi, Sanga, Kaduna North, Kubau, Zaria, Giwa, Igabi, Ikara, Kudan, Lere, Sabon Gari and Kagarako local governments.
The results of Kaduna South and Chikun local governments were not announced as the process of elections were said not to have been concluded in some of the wards in the LGs.
Elections have also been rescheduled in the three local governments of Kaura, Jaba and Kajuru.
The three local governments are to go into fresh rounds of voting on the 2nd of June, while chairmanship and councillorship candidates that have been returned would be presented with their certificates of return this Saturday, at the commission’s headquarters in Kaduna.
The KADSIECOM chairman said she is not announcing the results but confirming what have been at the fields after conclusion of elections.
“So I am not announcing results, I am only confirming what has been announced at the ward and local government collation centers,” she said.
