Osun: Police arrest suspected ritualists with human heart
NEWS DIGEST – Three suspected ritualists with a human heart have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command.
The three suspects who were arrested in Osogbo/OAU Ife Campus Road, Osun State last Thursday, April 7 by police detectives during a ‘stop and search’ task are Olayade Kehinde, 25, Olufemi Oriyomi, 21, and Raimi Sheriff, 21.
In a statement on Friday by the Osun State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, he said the suspects on a motorcycle, were arrested by Police on ‘Stop and Search’, “but rather than stop, sped off, and were pursued but later arrested in Safejo area of Ile-Ife.
According to the spokesman, the suspects claimed the human heart was one of their friends, and several criminal charms were found on them.
He processed to say that one of the suspects, Oriyomi, 21, fell sick and was taken to hospital for treatment, but died while on admission.
The Police disclosed that Oriyomi’s corpse has been deposited at the State hospital for autopsy.
Opalola said the other two suspects will be prosecuted according to the law once the investigation is completed.
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, has advised parents to control their children, and warn them against horrible friends they might be moving with.
He also advised the youths “to always engage in lawful business, and shun anything that will jeopardize their brighter future, which includes all forms of ‘get rich quick’ syndrome.”
