Benue: Gov Ortom hails Lawan, Gbajabiamila, others over restoration of constituency
NEWS DIGEST – Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has acknowledged the support of the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawal, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila over their support for the restoration of Agasha State Constituency in the state.
Governor Ortom spoke in Gbajimba, Guma Local Government Area on Monday during the celebration of the restoration of Agasha State Constituency, held at LGEA Primary School Gbajimba.
The Governor also thanked Senators Emmanuel Orker Jev and Gabriel Suswam as well as the entire members of the National Assembly from the state for their relentless efforts towards the restoration.
He stated that if the concerned stakeholders had worked at cross purposes, the dream of having Agasha as well as Mata and Mbagwa State Constituencies in Ushongo restored would not have been possible.
Senator representing Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam and his Benue North West counterpart, Orker Jev attributed the restoration to unity of purpose and the support of Governor Ortom, stressing that it was imperative to review state constituencies periodically as required by the constitution.
Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende, Ter Guma, Chief Dennis Shemberga and other speakers at the event said the people of Nongov and Guma Local Government Area in general remain eternally grateful for the restoration, saying the day would remain historic in Nongov nation.
Governor Samuel Ortom, Senators Gabriel Suswam and Orker Jev as well as member representing Makurdi- Guma at the National Assembly, Hon Benjamin Mzondu among others were decorated in Tiv traditional attire as an honour for their efforts which led to the restoration of Agasha State Constituency.
