Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, COAS

Your promotion call to greater service, Buratai tells new Brig. Generals

NEWS DIGEST–The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has admonished the newly-promoted officers of the Nigerian Army to continue to discharge their duties responsively, professionally and diligently, as their promotion is a call to greater, meritorious and inspiring leadership service to the Army, teeming Nigerians, and the country at large.

Buratai also charged them to eschew negative conducts, unbecoming attitudes and acts of indiscipline that have the potential to smear their personal integrity, while also denting the good image of the Nigerian Army.

He spoke at the COAS Conference Room on Tuesday, during an elaborate ceremony organized to decorate newly-promoted Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General.

He told the decorated senior officers to always uphold the dignity, integrity and honour of the Army, urging them to strive and bring their wealth of experience to bare while carrying out their statutory responsibilities.

“This is a memorable and great occasion for you. However, I urge you to see your promotion to the rank of Brigadier-General as a call to dedicated, committed, patriotic and selfless service. Strive to justify the confidence those who promoted you reposed in you. Bring to bare your rich and priceless wealth of experience,” Buratai said.

The Army Chief, while speaking further, pledged his support, and assistance to the elevated officers, even as he assured that the Army will continue to give priority attention to the welfare and timely promotion of troops and officers of the Army.

The new Brigadier Generals were decorated by their wives and other principal officers of the Army.

Other eminent guests at the ceremony include Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP); Major General Enobung Udoh, the Chief of Training and Operations; and the Chief of Administration, among others.
