Two sustained injuries celebrating Buhari’s victory
NEWS DIGEST–Some supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari were involved in an accident in Abuja on Wednesday while celebrating his victory in the last Saturday’s presidential election.
The accident occurred near the Presidential Campaign Office of the All Progressives Congress where a large crowd had gathered for the celebration.
The band of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1) had set the stage for Fuji music to thrill members and supporters of the party.
It was learnt that the driver of a car, a Volkswagen vehicle with number place, XA617GZW, tried to perform a stunt and had an accident in the process.
Two of the occupants of the badly damaged car, simply identified as Ibrahim and Tahiru, reportedly sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital.
The car belonged to one Mohammed Saleh, an indigene of Maiduguri, Borno State.
Saleh told our correspondent that Ibrahim sustained injuries in his private parts, while Tahiru had head injuries and fractures in his arm and leg.
“We first rushed them to the National Hospital but they were rejected; and we took them to Wuse General Hospital. We were asked to deposit money before treatment could commence; but we did not have money,” he said.
The wreckage of the car had been dragged to the front of the campaign office where friends of the victims sought to see the leadership of the party to no avail before our correspondent left the scene.
There was, however, a drama during the celebration as some supporters who were locked outside the party’s venue hijacked a lorry loaded with food for guests.
A policeman at the gate was talking to the driver when the crowd took advantage and forced the doors of the vehicle open.
The crowd overwhelmed the security men and emptied the content of the lorry in less than five minutes, chanting “Sai Baba, Sai Buhari!”
Meanwhile, the All Registered APC Support Groups in Nigeria has congratulated the President, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC leadership and all elected National Assembly members for their victory in the elections.
The National Chairman of ARAS-G, Ezedinma David, who addressed a crowd, said the group was not surprised about the victory due to the track records of the President and the APC.
