Reports state that four notorious cultist in Rivers State were shot dead by police officers, yesterday Wednesday 8th June, According to the state’s Public Relations Officer of Police, Ahmad Muhammad, policemen engaged cultists in a tough gun fight, in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area, noting that three of the cult members died on the spot, while the other passed on later at the hospital, due to gunshot wounds.
Muhammad noted that the cultist who died later at the hospital, gave a confession that their group was behind the weekend murders of about 27 people in Aluu, Isiokpo and Rumuji community, where they also attempt dot attack the Rumuji Police Station.
Muhammad said, “The cultists came from the bushes to attack our SARS annex office at Ogbakiri junction. Our men repelled the attack. Four of them were killed,” he said, noting that police had already increased security around all its formations in the state.
“We recovered large quantities of dynamites. The hoodlum that made it to the hospital said he was among this that attacked Isiokpo and other areas of Aluu communities weekend.
“Their fleeing gang membered certainly escaped with their riffles when they saw their members gunned down,” Muhammad added.
