In Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, a National Youth Service Corps member, identified as James Onus, was murdered by gunmen belonging to a cult, during the weekend. James Onuh, had been posted to Bayelsa State and was service in the capital city of Yenagoa.
Onuh, who was a civil engineer graduate from the University of Agriculture, Maiduguri, Benue State, was attacked by suspected cultists, who attacked him close to his residence and shot at him, at a close range.
It was reported that he was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where the workers were unfortunately on strike, causing him to die from the gunshot wounds.
The Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying, “Gunmen, suspected to be cultists, attacked and shot him. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. We are trailing the suspects and investigation is ongoing.”
It is quite unfortunate that the young man, who was just going through his service for the nation, had his life shortened by cultists.
