NEWS DIGEST – A 22-year-old man, Kunle Raheem, was on Wednesday docked at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of a smartphone worth N35, 000.

Raheem, who resides at No. 4, Ashafa St., Dopemu, Agege in Lagos State, is being charged with stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, said that Raheem committed the theft on July 25, at No. 1, Akinsegun St., Oko-Oba, Agege.

Samuel said that the defendant stole an Infinix Note 4 smart phone belonging to Mr Toba Adedokun from where it was kept.

He noted that the theft contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, while Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing.

The magistrate, Mrs A.I. Abina, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 29 for mention.(NAN)
