NEWS DIGEST – A 25-year-old carpenter, Zakka Sunday, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged impersonation.
The defendant, a resident of Fadan Karmantan in Kaduna, is standing trial for allegedly wearing a military camouflage uniform.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Yilga Luka, told the court that Sunday committed the alleged offence at Kwoi, Kaduna, on Dec. 12, 2018 at about 10.30 a.m.
According to Luka, the matter was transferred on Jan.8 from Fadan Karmantan Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further investigation.
The prosecutor said that on Dec.12, 2018, some group of army personnel attached to the Army School of Artillery in Kaduna, arrested the defendant at Kwoi wearing a military camouflage uniform.
Luka said when the defendant was apprehended, he was taken to the Artillery for further questioning, where he could not give satisfactory account of himself or his identity.
He denied committing the offence, which contravened Section 142 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Sidi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb. 21 for mention. (NAN)
