Again, Court adjourns trial of OAU5 students
NEWS DIGEST – A Magistrate court sitting in Ajebamidele Ile-Ife this Thursday Adjourned the case involving five students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU5) till 4th June 2018.
It would be recalled that five students of the varsity were arrested on allegations of molesting a hall warden in the varsity during an eviction process of students from the hall.
The students were arraigned in March after their arrest by men of the varsity security unit and charged to court afterwards.
At the continued hearing of the case today, the presiding judge Hon. Magistrate F.I. Omisade of the Magistrate court Ile-Ife, adjourned the case for further hearing.
It would be recalled that the Vice Chancellor told this Newspaper that his administration did not take the students to court and he will be willing to withdraw the case if the students show interest in such.
The arrest of the student had drawn condemnation with many calling the arrest of the students strange, some others said the case could have been handled within the confines of the University.
The five students arraigned in court are: Gbenga Oloruniran, a 400 level students of Geography; Olajide Ademola, a 500 level student of Electrical Electronics; Oyedeji Samson, 300 level student of Pharmacy; Jimoh Oladipupo, 300 level student of Biochemistry; and Adeniji John, 300 level student of Electrical Electronics.
