NEWS DIGEST – The Police on Thursday arraigned  two men in a  Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly damaging the car tyre of one Mr Shoronke Kayode, valued at N170,000.

The defendants, Stanley Jegede,50, and Samuel Adeyemi, 50, of no fixed addresses, are standing trial on a two-count charge of breach of peace and damaging of property.

The prosecutor, ASP. Akpam Ikem, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 16, at about 5p.m. at Aradagun  junction, Badagry.

Ikem also said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by obstructing one  Michael Monday, while driving on the highway.

He said the defendants were apprehended and handed over to the police.

The offences he said contravened the provisions of Sections 166 and 409 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 as amended.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaya, granted the defendants bail in the sum of  N100, 000 each, with two sureties each  in like sum.

The case was adjourned until April 24, for hearing. (NAN)
