Mansur Ahmed: Victim of Political Persecution, By Adnan Tudunwada
NEWS DIGEST – My good friend Mansur Ahmed Jahun, the new media aide to (DR) Sule Lamido is no doubt a victim of political persecution by the opponents of his principal, the ordeal of Mansur Ahmed started during the eve of Presidential and National Assembly elections where he was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police on allegations that he is in possession of ballot papers and other incriminating election materials.
He was detained and prosecuted to court but all efforts to secure his bail proved abortive, I’m not a lawyer but the case of Mansur is a clear bailable offence as i heard from different lawyers, though bail is at the discretion of a Judge, it is not justifying to detain someone fora period of 39 days in a bailable offence. I learned that he was denied bail because of his Principal and on the instruction of Governor Badaru Abubakar to which Mansur has been a staunch critic of for the past four years.
Disturbed with his criticism, the governor used that opportunity to persecute him in order to hurt his Principal Alhaji Sule Lamido to which Mansur has an unshakable loyalty to.
Whatever, Mansur is spending his 39th day in prison custody after being denied bail by a court of law. I have some questions in regard to this matter, is Mansur having case with INEC or Governor Badaru Abubakar? Why is he detained on the orders of the governor?
This is has put so much doubt in our minds that the case is politically motivated and a clear evidence that Mansur has not committed any criminal offence against the governor or Jigawa State.
As Sule Lamido would say, “Mansur is a Political Prisoner, victim of political sabotage and persecution”.
His only offence is unflinching loyalty to Sule Lamido whom Governor Badaru has turned to an arch enemy.
For my brother Mansur, this is the beginning of your greatness, political persecution and witch hunt leads someone to greatness.
You shall overcome it in sha Allah, all shall be OK. You’ll be set free in the soonest.
