Malami withdraws from Kebbi Governorship race
NEWS DIGEST – Abubakar Malami, Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has pulled out of the Kebbi State governorship race.
Malami had in April declared interest to succeed Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State.
On Wednesday, he submitted his N50 million nomination form at the International Conference Centre.
THE NEWS DIGEST reports that the minster, who was among those President Muhammadu Buhari bade farewell at Aso Rock earlier in the day, had opted out of the race.
Several sources close to the minister said he withdrew from the race over fear that he may not get the ticket.
A message sent to the News Digest reporter by a close aide to minister reads: “Gentlemen and ladies I’ll like to announce to our fans and well-wishers the withdrawal of our principal Abubakar Malami SAN, from Kebbi Gubernatorial race. 13th of May 2022. Allah yasa haka shine Alheri.”
Editors note: Allah yasa haka shine Alheri means May the Almighty Allah make it the best decision.
