Kano Hisbah arrests couple for buying stolen baby for N900,000

NEWS DIGEST – The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest of a couple, Mr and Mrs Salomi Jerome, for allegedly trafficking a stolen baby from Delta State.

The Commander-General of the board, Harun Ibn-Sina, confirmed the arrest on Monday.

Mr Ibn-Sina explained that the suspects were arrested by the Hisbah officials attached to motor parks after careful observation and scrutiny.

According to Mr Ibn-Sina, the 40-year-old couple had confessed to buying the baby from a nurse at a hospital in Delta State at the sum of N900,000.

He maintained that before confessing to the crime, the woman, a resident of Kwanar Jaba in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state, had claimed to have given birth to the baby.

But the commander-general said the board handed over the suspects to the state police command for further investigation.

He, therefore, urged the general public to report any suspected movement to relevant authorities, reiterating the agency’s commitment to eradication of all forms of vices in the state.
