Kaduna: Improvised ‎Explosives Device (IED) detects another bomb in Rigasa community

NEWS DIGEST – Residents of Shanono area of Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna have fled upon the detection of a bomb placed in the community.

This is coming after Improvised ‎Explosives Device (IED) discovered another bomb less than 24 hours after the residents had found one earlier.

The device was said to have been found on Friday, in a jerrycan covered with a black waterproof bag.

It will be recalled that Kaduna has been in the news for the past one week, over several attacks, kidnappings and explosions.

Recently, News Digest had reported the blockage of the Kaduna-Abuja highway by bandits.

The blockage of the highway was followed after bandits attacked, bombed the Abuja-Kaduna train on Tuesday.

An occupant of the community said, “It was kept at the same spot where the Thursday IED was discovered. We don’t know what is happening in this community. It was my elder brother’s wife that rushed to inform me that the children found another bomb inside Jerrycan.”

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalige, disclosed that an anti-bomb squad have been deployed to the area.

While urging the residents of the state to be more vigilant always, he said, “The area has been cordoned off to protect the people from getting hurt while our men are there to defuse the device.”
