JUST IN: Court asserts Omoyele Sowore as AAC Chairman

NEWS DIGEST – Former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore has been affirmed as the Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) party.

The judgement was delivered today by an appeal court sitting in Abuja.

In 2019, the Appeal Court held a judgment by the High Court which fired Sowore as the party’s chairman and claimed it was out of its boundary, noting it as an inside affair.

The verdict, which was delivered in 2019 by Justice Iyang Ekwo, disclosed it was contended that the Sahara Reporter owner and former presidential flag-bearer of the AAC, was withdrawn by the National Executive Committee of the party.

While the court awarded a sum of N200,000 to the applicants, it also negated the judgment and asserted Sowore as the national chairman of AAC and not Leonard Nzenwa.
