International Youth Day: Saliu Mustapha Felicitates with Young Nigerians
NEWS DIGEST – The Turaki of Ilorin and All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for Kwara Central, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has felicitated with young Nigerians as they celebrate the International Youth Day.
The APC founding member lauded Nigerian youth for their hard work and tenacity in the face of challenges.
A statement personally signed by Mr Mustapha said Nigerian youths are instrumental and key to the growth and development of the country.
He urged Nigerian youths to be steadfast in their legitimate endeavours, advising them to take advantage of various empowerment programmes offered by his foundation.
He said: “Small and Medium Entrepreneurs who are mostly youths are major beneficiaries of the annual empowerment programme hosted by the Saliu Mustapha Foundation.
“Youths also take the majority stake in the annual educational support program of the foundation, especially fees support, national and international scholarships, WAEC and JAMB forms provisions.
“I have also prioritised youth engagement and debate in various fora which is evident in the inter-secondary school Mathematics and English competition in which I host annually.
“Also in terms of sports, I have continued to see sports as a major platform to foster peace and unity among young people and on this basis, we paid for three thousand tickets for football lovers who were willing to watch Kwara United’s Nigeria Premier League match against MFM of Lagos on the 10th of July, 2022.
“I also recently hosted young media practitioners to encourage them to be balanced and truthful as they carry on their roles as the watchdog of the society.”
The APC Senatorial Candidate whose campaign team is made up of young people promised to keep supporting initiatives that are meant to elevate young minds.
Such initiatives, he said, must emphasise job creation and give them access to positions of authority.
“If elected into the senate, I will make sure that youth empowerment is part of my major legislative agenda.
“I believe that giving young people opportunities will help maximize their contributions to the development of our dear country,” he added.
Mustapha also appealed to Nigerian youths to participate in politics, stressing that inclusion of young people in governance is paramount.
“Lastly, I would like to praise the Governor of Kwara State for his support for young people which is evident in the opportunities and appointments he has given to a handful of them and we are sure their resilience and strength will transform the state for the better,” he concluded.
