Forgery: Court summons Fani-Kayode’s estranged wife
NEWS DIGEST – An Abuja Magistrate’s Court has summoned Precious Chikwendu, estranged wife of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, over alleged falsification of court documents against the ex-minister.
Magistrate Elizabeth Woni issued the summon during the arraignment of Emmanuel Anakam, who is among the six defendants in the matter.
According the documents filed by the FCT Command of the Nigerian Police charged Anakam, the sister of Precious, Prisca, said to be at large, spread false information that the former minister was engaged in domestic violence against his staff.
Anakam, however, denied the charge contained in the First Information Report.
Thus, the police prosecutor, Barrister John Ijagbemi applied to the court, praying it to issue a summons on the five others to enable them appear before the court.
Following an application for the bail of the defendant by his counsel, Emmanuel Okewu Esq., the magistrate, ordered the release of the defendant on the bail bond of N1.5m and two sureties in like sum.
The court said the sureties must be residents within the FCT and shall be reasonable persons, adding that they must must bring proof of payment of utility bill or rent, and proof of gainful employment.
The matter was adjourned to November 5.
