Bowen University to Convocates 888 students as 71 made first class
NEWS DIGEST–A private University in Osun State, Bowen, Iwo, is set to convocate 888 students In her 13th Convocation ceremony.
Analysis has it that A total of 71 students bagged first class honour degree amongst the graduands.
Professor Joshua Ogunwole, The Vice chancellor of the University, made this known during the 2017/18 pre-convocation press Conference in tandem of the ceremony on Friday.
Ogunwole Noted that 329 graduands made second class upper division, while another 329 second class lower division emerged as 88 finished with third class.
He also added that 42 students graduated from the Faculty of medicine and surgery, 16 Master degree, and 7 PHD students were among the graduands.
He expressed that the students of the institution “have been found worthy in learning and character modeling, and have convincingly demonstrate high level of academic excellence and discipline.
“We are releasing them to the public in order for them to bring what they have leant here to bear on the society and make a positive impact.
Professor Joshua Ogunwole noted that the University has produced a total number of 11,042 alumni from the first convocation in 2006 to the 12th convocation in November last year.
The Vice-chancellor, while reeling out some of the recorded achievements of the institution butteressed that there is a standing policy to train and retrain staff, as well as engaging and advancing the frontiers of research to meet the world class benchmark, mostly in globally areas of renewed energy, food security, medicine, peace and conflict studies.
He disclosed that the Senate has approved admission into Medical Laboratory Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and mechanical Engineering for 2017/2018 academic session.
