COVID-19: Nigeria records 6 deaths, 432 new cases

NEWS DIGEST – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday, has recorded no fewer than 432 new confirmed cases of coronavirus with 6 deaths rising to 3,092 deaths toll since the outbreak of COVID-19.

As Coronavirus surge continues to ravage the country standing at 249,586 cases with the active cases running low at 25,655 and the total number of discharged cases put at 220,839 people have been discharged so far.

The NCDC has stepped up its surveillance surpassing 3.9 million samples tested with the accurate figure stands at 3,933,209 samples tested.

This is contained in an update published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, dated Thursday January 13, 2022.

The breakdown of the cases

The new cases of coronavirus were reported from 15 states of the federation including Lagos with the highest number of cases put at 163, followed by Rivers with 109 cases and other 13 states share the remaining 160 cases respectively.

Other states include: Imo (27), Edo (16), Kaduna (15), Kwara (14),  Oyo (13), Kano (12), Akwa Ibom(10), Delta (10), Bauchi (9), JIgawa (9), Ekiti (8), Borno and the Federal Capital Territory (13).
