COVID-19: NCDC records 1 death, 236 new cases

NEWS DIGEST – The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, on Friday, says it has recorded one case of fatality with a total number of 236 new confirmed cases of coronavirus.

The agency added that no fewer than 251,930 cases have been confirmed so far since the outbreak of COVID-19.

The total number of discharged cases is put at 225,906. It has also recorded the overall number of fatalities put at 3124 deaths.

This is contained in an update published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control dated Friday, January 21, 2022.

Breakdown of cases

The agency says it has reported no fewer than 236 new cases of coronavirus from 11 states in the Federation.

These countries are Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Nasarawa, Osun, Oyo, River and FCT.

Lagos State remains the epicentre of COVID-19 with the highest cases standing at 90 cases.
The cases reported from Gombe put at 66 cases and together with the new infections confirmed in Abuja stand at 29 cases.

Other States include Delta(12), Kaduna (11), Osun (10), Kano (8), River (7), Ekiti (1), Nasarawa (1), and Oyo(1).

The agency maintained that it would continue to coordinate the national response activities through its multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC).
