The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, announced on Thursday that a revamped curriculum for secondary schools will be launched nationwide by September 2024.

He disclosed this during the ongoing 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja.

“We are working diligently to introduce a new curriculum for secondary schools by September,” Mamman affirmed, emphasizing the ongoing efforts over the past year.

He added that a stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled for August 6, 2024, to finalize plans.

“It is our goal that by September, this program will be implemented across all schools, both public and private,” Mamman stated.

Recently, the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission raised concerns about the state of senior secondary schools in Nigeria, citing challenges such as infrastructure deficiencies, unqualified teachers, outdated curriculum, and inadequate libraries and laboratories.

The commission also highlighted ongoing plans for curriculum reform.
Details to follow as the implementation progresses.
