Nigeria’s 100 metres hurdles star, Tobi Amusan has been nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award.

This was announced on the Twitter handle of Laureus on Monday, 20 February.

Amusan hugged the headlines last year after a number of impressive feats at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old set a new world record in the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships and successfully defended her Commonwealth title in Birmingham.

Amusan capped a glorious year by also claiming the Diamond League title.

The other nominees in the category are tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina, semi-finalist at Qatar 2022 World Cup Atlas Lions of Morocco, American figure skater Nathan Chen and American professional golfer Scott Scheffler.
