NEWS DIGEST – Fufore Local Government Council of Adamawa, has launched a free medical surgery for the needy in the area.
The Council Chairman, Alhaji Wakili Boya, who spoke at Fufore Cottage Hospital, venue of the launching, said the gesture was to boost healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Boya who was represented by the council’s Vice Chairman, Mr Shagari Titus, said that the programme known as `Boya Free Surgical Intervention Initiative’ has so far conduct surgical operations on 40 patients.
Boya commended the medical team handling the exercise for their commitment and urged patients to be orderly as everyone listed would be attended to.
In his remarks, Adviser to Gov. Muhammadu Bindow on Health, Alhaji Bamanga Yahya, commended the initiative, which he described as first of its kind by a council in the state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), chairman in the local government, Mr James Beka, lauded the council for the gesture which he said has made the party proud.
Beka urged other councils to emulate Fufore in bringing succor to the needy.
In his remarks, chairman of the initiative, Alhaji Yahya Liman, said the gesture would be extended to people from neighboring local government areas. (NAN)
