NEWS DIGEST – The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned three men  who  allegedly broke into a house and stole  a Tecno phone worth N19,500.

The accused – Ibrahim Ambali, 33; Kabiru, 30, and Oseni Umaru, 24, whose addresses were not provided, were charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy,  illegal entry, stealing and receipt of stolen items.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akpan Ikem, told the court that the defendants  committed the offences on Jan. 7, at  11:45am at Maichete Road, Onireke Quarters, Apa, Badagry.

Ikem alleged that Ambali unlawfully entered into the compound of  one Mr Adeniran Olalekan by scaling the fence.

” Ambali broke into the  house through the window and stole one Tecno phone valued N19,500, property of Adeniran Olalekan.

“Kabiru Suru unlawfully received the phone from Ambali, knowing same to have been stolen.

“Also, Oseni Umaru unlawfully received the phone from the accused, knowing same to have been stolen,” he said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaya, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case until April 15 for hearing. (NAN)
